An Ode to Thailand – #Cheers Guest Post by Poop Rainbows Mama

Welcome to the 9th post in the “Cheers!” Series!

Those of you that have popped by my site before will know that I am a tiny bit obsessed with rhyming. “Cheers!” is a series of rhyming guest posts that I am honoured to share, mostly with a parenting theme, from some of the most talented and lovely people in Blogland!

This week’s guest needs no introduction…  I am rolling out the red carpet and very very excited to give to you my amazing bloggy buddy: The Mama from My Kid Doesn’t Poop Rainbows.  I have always known her to be hilarious, and beyond talented with a set of pencils, but then she went and wrote a poem!!  What can I say?  Loved it!  If you haven’t read her posts already then please check her out.  She writes and sketches brilliant posts such as: How to Avoid Throttling your Child which you simply have to read if you haven’t already (and if you have – read it again!)

But for now: Over to The Mama…

An Ode To Thailand

As the end of my time draws near,

I’m feeling excitement and fear.

Our time in Thailand is near up,

Phew, as I’ve smashed all our cups.

Soon we will move to sunny Spain,

And say bye to all that Thai rain.

Bye bye humidity, bye heat.

Adios to yummy food to eat.

So long to paradise beaches,

Farewell to five pounds each peaches.

Adieu to the land of smiles,

Cheerio curries which gave me piles.

Five years ago I came all alone,

With near no contacts on my phone.

Now I leave with two more in tow,

With lots of tears and sighs, off we go.

Bangkok will always have my heart,

It’s here that saw my family start.

One day we’ll be back I’m almost sure,

But Spain will leave us rather poor.

Meanwhile when I need a wee lift,

I know to where my thoughts will drift.

Bangkok, city of heat food and fun,

Lesser known for giving you the runs.

You can follow The Mama on Facebook, TwitterPinterestGoogle + and you can check the two of us out every Monday as we host The Mama’s awesome Linky: #FartGlitter together.

Thank you Poop Rainbows Mama.  It’s an honour to co-host your linky with you, and to share your awesome rhyme.  Wishing you every happiness in your new home in Spainland, and I’m looking forward to many more 6am “Facebook bombs” from you in the future 😉

  1. Great post! You’re so bloomin’ brave! Twice!

We honeymooned in Thailand and I must admit to finding the humidity unbearable. But the people and the FOOD were so good!

Good luck on your next adventure 🙂

  2. From Thailand to Spain – doesn’t sound half bad to me! It will be hard to leave a country that has been your home for 5 years – especially one where you started a family – but Spain will be a whole new adventure. Plus there will be tapas! Mmm…tapas. #DreamTeam

  3. Aw this is lovely – hope you have a straightforward move to Spain! I used to live in Barcelona and absolutely loved it so hope you’ll settle in quickly. This poem reminded me of our trip to Thailand, the humidity like I’ve never felt before but the yummy food and amazing people. You must have some wonderful memories. Thanks for linking up to the #dreamteam xx

  4. Aww hope the move to Spain goes well and you enjoy living there as much as you did in Thailand – Love these guest poems Dawn, such a great idea for a series xx #bestandworst

  5. I salute you mama for not letting babies hold you back! The thought of driving to town (10 min drive!) with my 5 month old takes about an hour of planning! Good luck in Spain! #ablogginggoodtime

  6. Haha those last two lines almost made me spit my lunch out! A fab guest post much enjoyed and thanks so much for linking up to #coolmumclub with this lovely xx

    1. … sorry – that would have made more sense to you if you’d been commenting on my recent post about (not) baking with children. Crossed wires at my side haha. Thank you for your lovely comment, and yes, all The Mama’s posts make me cheerful. She’s fab :0) x
